Art, Craftsmenship & Love

February is a month for artistic expression — making, collecting, admiring and learning. We love art because it gives us a glimpse of someone’s heart, the part of them we don’t see on the surface. We are all drawn to art in different ways. We like to look at and listen to art that makes us feel something, art that resonates with us. Through art, we learn about ourselves.

We hope you enjoy reading in this issue how Rachel Perkal of Epilogue Art in Long Grove inspired a husband & wife team to create a one-of-a-kind ceramic art piece. We also hope you’re inspired to visit an old favorite, DiPiero’s Ristorante, serving up handcrafted classic Italian dishes in downtown Lake Zurich. Also in Lake Zurich, Copper Fiddle Distillery is forging a new trail in small batch spirits. Over in Barrington, old-world craftsmen at Caledonian, Inc. repair furniture and create new classics for families with discerning taste.

These stories are about just a few of the local artisans sharing their craft, passion and self-expression. Perhaps by this time next year you, too, will have been inspired to pursue what you love. After all, February is the month of love.

See you around town!
