What is it about February? Plenty. All the debts of the holidays come due; too many calories and bills to pay. Mother Nature, in addition to still depriving us of much needed sunlight, can still have a few diabolical tricks up her sleeve. Lingering snow piles turn into foreboding, grit-encrusted humps in parking lots and along roadways.
To brighten things up in February the team here relishes sharing readers’ choices in the annual Best of SW Lake Awards. In our quest to provide local news that’s always helpful, useful and informative, this issue reveals the winners in this go-around of the best-of-the best.
This month also is the time when some folks plot getaways. Right around the bend is Spring Break when the last person in the neighborhood who hasn’t hightailed it down the road (or jumped in an Uber to O’Hare) suffers from a severe case of FOMO. To whet traveler appetites we offer some overseas options that are bucket list worthy, for sure.
Closer to home, local entertainment is always a great escape. The fun night the team from SW Lake Lifestyle had while hosting a big crowd of clients and their families at a Windy City Bulls game prompts us to take more staycations whenever possible. The road to re-creation doesn’t always have to be time-consuming or dear when we live in a place like this.
Finally, a quick reminder to drop us a note with story ideas or to let us know how we’re doing. Just like the many local businesses that grace these pages, we’re committing to always provide the very best for families in SW Lake Co.
See you Around Town,
