Montessori School of Long Grove Receives Reaccreditation

The Montessori School of Long Grove, founded in 1975, has earned reaccreditation through 2025 by the American Montessori Society. Recognition by this national organization is another example of the school’s ongoing commitment to school quality and improvement.

The Montessori School of Long Grove believes strongly that a students’ daily school experience should be happy and rewarding. Becoming accredited by the American Montessori Society was voluntary and involved an intensive self-study involving every aspect of the school, including governance, curriculum, fiscal/personnel policies, facilities, health/safety practices, teacher preparation and learner outcomes.

Barrington Area Chamber of Commerce Announces New 2019 Board Leadership

The Barrington Area Chamber of Commerce (BACC) has announced its 2019 slate of business leaders to be officially sworn in at the Chamber’s Annual Dinner &Scholarship Fundraiser on Thursday, January 17 at Avante Banquets and Conference Center, 1050 Northwest Hwy. in Fox River Grove.

The new BACC Board will begin serving as the Chamber celebrates its 50th year of service to the Barrington area, which includes 11 regional communities. Members of the BACC Board represent a broad cross-section of business and industry in the Barrington area, contributing their time and expertise throughout the year in guiding the Chamber, serving the business interests of BACC members and supporting the prosperity of the region.

The 2019 Board includes Executive Committee members: Dennis Kelly, FGMK Insurance –Chairman; Keith Hanson, Hanson Law Group LLP – First-Vice Chairman; Andrea Herran, Focus HR Consulting – Second-Vice Chairman; Char Neault, Barrington Bank & Trust – Treasurer; and Tom Cramer, Wintrust Mortgage – Past Chairman. A new leader joining the Board is Norm May, Full Service Office Solutions, Inc. Congratulations to the entire Board for their dedicated service.

Sweet & Sassy In Barrington

Chef Christine Radulescu has opened Christi’s Sweet Café, an artisan pastry shop featuring French/American pastries and desserts. Just a short walk from the Metra station, Christi’s Sweet Café is a pastry shop featuring a wide variety of hand-crafted goodies, such as muffins, scones, croissants, cinnamon rolls, cakes, brownies, pies, tortes, tarts, peanut brittle and dog treats. Special occasion cakes are also available by pre-order.  Radulescu’s shop is at 121A Barrington Commons Court.

Radulescu brings a passion for food and a deep resume to the new café. Her professional career has included stints at the Sofitel Hotel, the Grand Geneva Resort & Spa and The Signature Room at the 95th. Since January 2014, she has been a Baking and Pastry Instructor at the College of Lake County, teaching fundamentals of baking to aspiring pastry chefs.    

“I’ve always dreamed of having my own business, a dessert bar,” Radulescu says. “I come in at 4 a.m. and bake everything myself from scratch, using the finest ingredients, producing fresh desserts to my standards to sell at a fair price.”
