Good Health is a Family Affair in Barrington 3

Doctoring is the family business for Nick and Delphine Deignan. But their pathways to this family line of work took notably different courses until they found themselves training together in college in Georgia.

Dr. Nicholas Deignan went to Illinois State University for his undergraduate degree. He continued his education at Life University in Marietta, GA where he also played rugby on a scholarship. After graduating in 2010, Nick received advanced training in spinal correction, toxicity, exercise and nutrition from some of the largest clinics in the world. He regularly taps into the latest scientifically based research and protocols in health and healing today to continue cutting-edge care for patients at their clinic near Citizens Park in Barrington.

Dr. Delphine Deignan discovered the benefits of chiropractic as a young gymnast competing at an international level in France. After an injury left her unable to compete, she began running track and field and continued running through college at the national level on a full ride scholarship.

Some years later she suffered another injury, this time to her back. Thanks to chiropractic treatments, Delphine healed from her injury and learned how chiropractic care includes utilizing the body’s natural processes to heal. These experiences led her to an interest in preventative medicine. To continue her studies she moved to the U.S. to enroll in Life University. In 2007 she graduated Cum Laude with a special Clinic Excellence Award. “I think it is important to realize what is going on in our country right now,” Delphine says. “We have a health emergency because people are being reactive to health problems instead of being more proactive and responsible for their own health.” She cites statistics to make her case:
+ 2/3 adults overweight or obese
+ 1/3 kids overweight or obese
+ 258% increase in childhood obesity since 1974
+ $147 billion = estimated medical costs of obesity
“It’s not that we’re not trying,” Delphine says. “We have more health food stores, gyms, supplement shops and juice bars than any other country. Why isn’t it working? Because it takes commitment and people are confused.”

Along with Nick, she has received advanced training in spinal correction, toxicity, exercise and nutrition from some of the largest health clinics in the world. She has access to the latest scientifically based research and protocols in health and healing today.

The Deignans are proud parents of three daughters (all born at home). As parents they understand the rewards – and challenges – of raising healthy children.
