Copper Fiddle Distillery wins 2015 LZACC Business of the Year Award

Copper Fiddle Distillery has been awarded 2015 Business of the Year by the Lake Zurich Area Chamber of Commerce (LZACC) at the annual Evening of Excellence Awards Banquet on Saturday, January 24th, 2016 at Concorde Banquets in Kildeer. A panel composed of the five past LZACC Presidents determined winners of Business of the Year 2015.

The winner was selected based upon several factors

  • Their involvement in and support of the community
  • Significant accomplishments, improvements, or success stories achieved this year
  • Leadership roles or significant accomplishments in the community or industry served
  • Philanthropic contributions made in the community

Hawthorn Woods Announce Youth Spring Soccer League

The Village of Hawthorn Woods is proud to offer fun, instructional, and participative youth soccer leagues for players grades Pre-K through 5th this spring.  The leagues will start on Saturday, April 9th. All levels will play games on Saturdays, scheduled between 9:00 and 11:00am. Grades 1-5 will also practice on Wednesdays, scheduled between 4:30 and 6:30pm. Practices and training session will be led by Hawthorn Woods Elite Soccer Club Owner, Tom Chmela. Our quality coaches ensure your children will learn and advance their skills in a fun environment. Police Officer Cortez Recognized for DUI Enforcement

At the Hawthorn Woods Village Board of Trustees meeting held on January 25th, 2016, Officer Anthony Cortez was recognized by Mayor Joseph Mancino, the Village Board, and administrative staff for excellence in DUI enforcement. Officer Cortez led the Hawthorn Woods Police Department in the number of driving under the influence arrests in 2015, accounting for 50% of the department’s total DUI arrests. He will be recognized by the Alliance Against Intoxicated Motorists (AAIM) for this achievement. We are grateful for Officer Cortez’s service to the community and his successful efforts making the roadways within Hawthorn Woods safe for all to travel.
