stylish, efficient and fun in the luxury market
What it Takes to Compete
Younger buyers are looking to get into the luxury market, and they don’t necessarily want what their parents do out of a luxury car. Aggressive, bold styling, the latest technology, and fun-to-drive performance are all priorities over large size and prestige nameplates. Young buyers tend to put a much bigger premium on efficiency and lower carbon emission as well, and tend to favor living in cities where parking is difficult to come by. All of those factors lead to the 2016 Infiniti Q30 and QX30—the brand’s first compact car since the G20 debuted in 1990.
These two cars are more similar than just the name: they’re effectively the same vehicle, but the Q30 hatchback is lower and more aimed at on-road convenience; while the QX30 is essentially the same vehicle with slightly more ground clearance, some rugged cladding, and all-wheel drive. The Q30 is aimed at the young urbanite who wants a sporty, smart small car. The 2016 Infiniti QX30 is aimed at that same driver who might find themselves headed camping on a long weekend where the road turns to gravel, and to those drivers who find their cities in the snow or rain belt and would benefit from additional all-wheel drive confidence.
Both will get a 2.0L turbocharged four-cylinder engine good for around 208 hp. A continuously variable transmission will likely be used to provide plenty of miles per gallon. You’ll no doubt find the latest Infiniti InTouch infotainment system and up-to-date safety features like adaptive cruise control, a collision departure warning system, and more. All in all, these two models should be perfect for any young Chicagoland driver who wants a stylish, efficient, and fun little car.
